Australian share funds performed well in 2004- 05. The Intech survey of funds that only invest in Australian stocks found they outperformed the sharemarket. Platypus Asset Management was the best-performing fund, with a return of 39.1 per cent. Most funds gave a better return than the 26 per cent from the top 200 stocks. Platypus was formed in 1998 and has only $A45 million in funds under management. It has performed well for the last three years. MIR Investment Management ranked second with a return of 37 per cent.
